Inspired by the beautiful and symbolic blossoms of spring and names after the Greco-Roman Goddess of spring - Maia was designed for the lovely Olive and Reg online retailer. Olive and Reg specialises in exceptional quality jewellery with uncompromising ethics.

The Maia pendant is the centre of the collection. It has five petals and pearls - one to represent each of the five classical elements of balance and harmony; water, earth, air, fire and ether.

Cherry blossoms are symbolic and important in many cultures but non more so than the Japanese. They have long been a symbol of hope and renewal as well as serving as a reminder of how fragile life is.

There is also a Celtic aspect to the design - all the pieces are continuous loops. This is to reflect the passing of time and the cyclic nature of the seasons, one always following the other. The loops are flared to reflect the opening of the blossom and the beautiful curves of the petals.

The Maia collection is available in certified 9ct White / Rose Fairtrade and Fairmined Ecological gold (Oro Verde, Colombia) and sterling Eco Andina silver (Andes Mountains, Argentina) and set with carbon neutral pearls (Daiichi Pearl farm, Japan).
